I am very much aware of Saoirse being cast as Melanie, and really it’s the same situation with Jennifer having been cast as Katniss: while I never would have thought of her for the role, I am really excited for the casting decision. Saoirse is an exceptionally talented actress and I have no doubt in my mind that she won’t be able to flawlessly portray Melanie, and while she isn’t at all what I pictured Melanie to look like (I mean c’mon my dreamcast was Summer Glau) it just goes to show you what a good hair and make up expert can do. ie: Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. The same goes for Jake and Max, and while I don’t think their acting is up to par with Saoirse’s acting, they’re good and attractive and I’m excited for the casting of the movie and can’t wait to see how it turns out.
